We've Got Hopewell in Our Blood.
John Hart Farms is a family-run working farm spanning 600 acres in Hopewell Township, New Jersey.
We are proud to be one of New Jersey’s first farmland preservations. It’s not always easy to make sure 80% of what we sell is made or produced on our own property, but that’s not why we do it. Since the preservation program was first introduced to New Jersey in 1991, John made a decision: keeping our community’s heritage in tact and our lands pristine was more important than boosting sales growth. All of our production follows the tradition of John Hart’s great-great uncle, who first settled in Hopewell in 1713, and we offer the same advice to the farms, food processing mills, and families we work with. Community InvolvementJohn Hart served as Mayor of Hopewell for two consecutive terms, and continues to be a vocal leader representing the agricultural community.
John has helped dozens of property-owners file for farmland tax assessment and has turned hundreds of acres of New Jersey land into farmland preservation since 1995. What Do We Do? A Little Bit of Everything. We produce corn, rye, soy, and hay; we sell chickens, pastured meat and poultry, eggs, feed, fertilizer, and mushroom soil; and offer trucking and mowing services for farms in the tri-state region.
